Our overall rating of Safe at ESH Community has remained Good.

People were protected from abuse and avoidable harm through established risk assessment and management processes that were applied consistently. Risks associated with substance misuse, detoxification and mental health needs were identified promptly, reviewed regularly and reflected in care planning. Staff demonstrated a good understanding of individual risks and worked with people to reduce harm and support recovery.

There was a positive learning culture where concerns were reported, reviewed and used to improve practice. Safeguarding arrangements were effective, the environment was safe and well maintained, and infection prevention and control practices were followed. Medicines were managed safely, with systems in place for storage, administration and monitoring, and people were supported to understand their medicines and associated risks.
