Partnerships and communities
The practice had an active patient participation group (PPG). We spoke with two representatives from the group, who were largely positive about the working relationship between the PPG and the practice. One member mentioned feeling involved in service activities, while the other noted they were not always informed about service improvements. We reviewed the latest PPG meeting minutes, which showed discussions on progress and outcomes.
The provider demonstrated a commitment to improving patient access to GPs by utilising community-based services. For example, they signed up for additional receptionist training as part of the local NHS Pharmacy First advanced service, which manages patients with seven common conditions. The practice’s involvement in the initiative followed the identification of a decline in the practice’s referral rates between April and September 2024.
We did not receive specific feedback from partners regarding partnership and community engagement. However, we observed clear evidence of the provider effectively collaborating with the integrated care board and other local stakeholders to implement a range of initiatives aimed at enhancing patient well-being.
One example of this is the provider’s participation in the data accreditation scheme, which demonstrated their commitment to maintaining high standards and supporting improved outcomes for patients. Additionally, the provider joined the national general practice improvement programme initiative, which offers member practices access to additional resources to improve patient access, care continuity, and the effective use of multi-professional teams.
