Our overall rating of safe at Draper House has remained as good.

Staff we spoke with were aware of the process for reporting adverse events or incidents that were to be reported both internally and externally to the service. Staff we spoke with told us that they knew about the duty of candour and what their responsibilities were, as well as when it should be applied.

The service issued a monthly safeguarding update bulletin, taking cases and explaining the rationale behind the case and the appropriate actions, as well as any learning from the incident.

Care records showed that patients at the service were encouraged and involved in making decisions about their care and what was in their best interest. Consent was clearly indicated within care records.

We reviewed 6 sets of care records and their accompanying risk assessments. There had been 2 incidents of physical intervention at the service in the 4 months prior to the inspection. There was no seclusion room at the service, nor any long-term segregation.

The service had a monthly audit report on compliance with mandatory and role specific training. The report for April 2026 showed that all training was being completed, the lowest training figures being 89% for both safety interventions and safeguarding.

Care records we reviewed on both wards showed that the effects of medication were considered for each patient, and this was explored in the multi-disciplinary meetings (MDT) held at the service.
