Equity in access
The 2026 National patient survey feedback showed staff ensured patients could mostly access the care, support, and treatment they needed in a timely way. For example, 83% stated their experience of contacting the practice was good overall and 72% stated it was easy to contact the practice on the phone. The results were in line or above the national or local average. For areas where results were below local and national averages, such as ease of access to the practice website, the practice had developed an action plan to drive improvement.
The practice was open Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 6.30pm, with access to out-of-hours services during evenings and weekends. Reception staff supported by training and guidance directed patients who contacted practice to the appropriate service. At the time of our assessment, urgent appointments were available each day and routine appointments were available within 10 working days.
The practice also provided longer appointments for patients with a learning disability or mental health condition to support equitable access to care. Treatment rooms were available on the ground floor and there were level access and an automatic door at the entrance to the practice.
Patients unable to leave their homes were visited three monthly or when any changes occurred.
Equity in experiences and outcomes
The 2026 National patient survey feedback was positive, 88% of patients stated their needs were met. Leaders worked and collaborated with local organisations to tackle health inequalities in the local population. For example:
- The practice was involved in the primary care network and had participated in a women’s health and wellbeing day and a mental health awareness event.
- The practice was part of the co-founding and development group of the proactive project which addressed a service gap for individuals with both mental health conditions and substance misuse need who had visited accident and emergency services more than 3 times in a 12-month period. These patients were referred to a core team who provided dual therapy care pathways to improve care and treatment.
