Governance, management and sustainability
The provider had clear systems of accountability and good governance. There was a range of checks and audits in place, which the provider was in the process of reviewing after feedback from an inspection of a ‘sister’ home on the same site. Electronic procedures for medicines were reviewed during the inspection to make them more person centred. The provider acted quickly to manage and respond to risk. They monitored performance and shared information with others when required. During inspection feedback we discussed good practice guidance in body mapping people who were being admitted to hospital. This process was going to be reviewed to ensure it occurred on all occasions. Body mapping is when a person’s body is checked for any injuries or skin issues, including bruising or pressure damage. The same procedure would be completed on the return to the home of the person to ensure they were in the same condition as when they left.
There was a registered manager in place and a stable management team to support them. Notifications of reportable incidents had been sent to the Care Quality Commission as is legally required.
