Our view of the service

MYM Coventry is operated by Professional Antenatal Services Limited who have multiple locations across the Midlands providing baby scanning services. MYM Coventry was registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on 6 August 2025 and is registered to carry out diagnostic and screening procedures for adults. The service provides ultrasound scans in pregnancy for the purpose of bonding and reassurance rather than for clinical purposes or as part of a pregnancy pathway of care. The service also carries out early assurance scans, non-invasive prenatal (NIPT) blood tests, sex confirmation scans and 4D bonding scans. From January to June 2026, the service carried out 3163 scans, averaging 527 a month.

We carried out a short notice announced risk-based assessment of the diagnostic imaging service on 23 June 2026 as the service had not been previously inspected. The service had been inspected under a different registration in January 2025 where it was registered as a satellite clinic. This service was rated as requires improvement overall and we served a S29 Warning Notice (WN) in relation to safe care and treatment and governance processes. Whilst the service is being inspected as a newly registered service, we did consider the concerns raised in the WN and previous inspection. We found evidence of improvements having been made.

As part of the assessment, we observed baby ultrasound scans being carried out and reviewed 8 records and images. We reviewed service policies, procedures and operating procedures. This included baby scanning imaging protocols and operational policies. We spoke to 6 staff members including the registered manager, sonographers, and administrative staff. We spoke with 6 women who had recently received a service.

During our inspection we identified some concerns with governance around policies and procedures, oversight of disclosure barring service (DBS) checks and recruitment processes. The senior management team responded positively to feedback and took immediate action to ensure all staff had DBS checks completed at the appropriate level and updated some policies and procedures.

We found 1 breach of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 in relation to governance.

Some operational policies, procedures and guidance did not provide staff with clear instruction and were not all in line with legislation and most up to date guidance. Oversight of safe recruitment checks was not always effective.
