Governance, management and sustainability
Theproviderhad developed clear responsibilities, roles, systems of accountability and good governance. They used these to manage and deliver good quality, sustainable care, treatment and support. However, we identified some areas for improvement were still required to ensure the service actedon the best information about risk, performance and outcomes.
The provider had employed a compliance manager who was deployed across all of the services operated by the provider. This had resulted in a new governance framework being created which was currently being embedded throughout the service. The new governance structure had resulted in better oversight of the quality and safety of the service and reduced the risks identified at our last assessment. However, we identified that improvements were still required in relation to the safe management of medicines when people moved into Beechcroft and some areas of medicines storage. Following the inspection, the compliance manager provided documentation and assurance on how this was going to be achieved.
Partnerships and communities
We did not look at Partnerships and communities during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Well-led.
Learning, improvement and innovation
The provider had a strong focus on continuous learning, innovation and improvement across the organisation and local system. They always encouraged creative ways of delivering equality of experience, outcome and quality of life for people.
Learning and development was shared between the four homes in the provider’s group. The compliance manager had introduced new governance systems and process and was awaiting approval from the provider to introduce further changes and documentation. This will assist in increasing learning and improvement opportunities. Quality assurance surveys provided opportunity to learn from people’s experiences and improve outcomes.
A continual service improvement plan gave an oversight of actions and improvements that had been identified and when they were completed.
