Person-centred Care

Score: 3

The provider made sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment choices and they decided, in partnership with people, how to respond to any relevant changes in people’s needs.

People’s care plans were personalised and reflected their individual needs, choices and wishes. Where people were living with dementia, care plans had now been further developed and more detailed about how staff could best support them, and their individual needs were well considered. This enabled staff to provide person-centred care. Information included how people preferred to be supported, the people who were important to them, and their hobbies and interests.

Listening to and involving people

Score: 3

The provider made it easy for people to share feedback and ideas, or raise complaints about their care, treatment and support. Staff involved people in decisions about their care and told them what had changed as a result.

The provider had systems and processes to act on complaints, and these were reviewed as part of the provider level oversight. No concerns were raised by people or their relatives about being able to speak with the management team. The provider captured the views of people and their relatives through surveys. An evaluation and improvement plan was created following the surveys to identify and implement changes.
