Assessing needs

The provider made sure people’s care and treatment was effective by assessing and reviewing their health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them. Comprehensive assessments were undertaken by the provider to ensure the persons needs could be met. These assessments were used to develop appropriate risk assessments and care plans. One family member shared a positive experience of the assessment process. They told us, “It all happened so quickly. [Staff member] phoned from the office and explained the assessment process. They then came out to do a full assessment. It’s going okay so far. It is heaven.”

The provider told people about their rights around consent and always respected their rights when delivering care and treatment. Where able, people had signed their care plans to demonstrate their consent. A person told us their consent was always sought at each care visit. They said, “They always check it’s ok before doing personal care.”
