Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the provider involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Independence, choice and control
The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. Staff encouraged people to make day to day choices and do as much as they could for themselves. Areas of independence were clearly documented in peoples care plans. People were supported to maintain important relationships. One person told us, [Staff] help me to get my buggy ready and help me in it. This means I can go out with my family.” A family member told us staff took time to listen to their loved ones needs and wishes when planning care which was important to them. They said, “Staff listen to [Name’s] preferences about how they carry out personal care and the detail i.e. the water temperature and level.”
