Effective – this means we looked for evidence that people’s care, treatment and support achieved good outcomes and promoted a good quality of life, based on best available evidence.

This is the first inspection for this service. This key question has been rated good. This meant people’s outcomes were consistently good, and people’s feedback confirmed this.

Assessing needs

The provider made sure the person’s care and treatment was effective by assessing and reviewing their needs with them. The provider held meetings with the person they supported to talk about their needs so the information remained current and up to date.

Delivering evidence-based care and treatment

Score: 3

The provider planned and delivered the person’s care and treatment with them, including what mattered to them. They ensured the person had the equipment they required to meet their needs. Staff told us how the equipment enabled the person to maintain their dignity and independence.

How staff, teams and services work together

The provider worked well across teams and services to support people. The provider told us about the different health professionals they had contact with who were involved in the person’s care. These including the person’s GP, occupational therapy services and physiotherapy services.

Supporting people to live healthier lives

Score: 3

The provider supported the person to make decisions about their health and how to stay healthy. The person receiving support had capacity to make decisions about what they ate and were able to have discussions with the staff to consider the best ways of maintaining their general wellbeing. We saw evidence of discussions between the person supported and the staff which included ways of lowering carbohydrates and identifying what a balanced diet was.

Monitoring and improving outcomes

The provider routinely monitored the person’s care to continuously improve it. They discussed the outcomes the person wanted and worked with them to achieve them. The provider also worked alongside other professionals, making sure the best possible outcomes for the person were delivered.

The person supported had capacity to make their own decisions about their care. The registered manager and staff had a close working relationship with the person which was built on trust. Through conversations and meetings, they were able to offer advice which helped the person make informed decisions.
