Safe and effective staffing

Score: 3

The provider made sure there were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff, who received effective support, supervision and development. They worked together well to provide safe care that met people’s individual needs. Since the last assessment supervision processes had been improved. A newly developed matrix monitored staff supervisions and the allocation of buddies for new starters. This ensured consistent managerial support and helped new staff settle confidently into their roles, enhancing both staff retention and team morale.

Staff recruitment processes were in place prior to new staff commencing employment, which included relevant checks of staff’s previous employment history, character, proof of identity, criminal records check and their right to work in the United Kingdom. This information helps employers make safer recruitment decisions.
