Kindness, compassion and dignity

Score: 3

Patient feedback demonstrated that staff mostly treated patients with kindness and compassion. The 2026 National GP Patient Survey showed that 91% of patients felt the healthcare professional at their last appointment treated them with care and concern, compared with a local average of 82% and a national average of 86%. Additionally, 97% of respondents reported confidence and trust in the healthcare professional they spoke to and were involved as much as they wanted in decisions about their care and treatment. Which were above the local and national averages.

The practice had arrangements to ensure patients’ privacy and dignity were protected. Curtains were available in consulting rooms to maintain privacy when required. Consultation and treatment room doors were kept closed during appointments so that conversations could not be overheard. Reception staff understood how to identify when patients wished to discuss sensitive matters or appeared distressed and were able to offer access to a private room to discuss their needs confidentially.
