Equity in access

Score: 3

The service made sure people could access the care, support and treatment they needed when they needed it.

The service performed better than the national average in the results of the 2026 National GP Patient Survey. This showed people could access the service when they needed it in a way that suited their needs, such as by telephone, in person or through the service’s website. For example, 88% of respondents to the survey described their overall experience of contacting this service as being good, compared to a national average of 70%. Staff were all trained in care navigation and patient requests for appointments were responded to quickly and efficiently.

Treatment rooms were available on the ground floor, and a ramp and automatic door had been fitted to the entrance to ensure ease of access to the service. The practice had a hearing loop available.

Equity in experiences and outcomes

Score: 3

Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who were most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes. They tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this.

Staff treated people equally and without discrimination. Leaders proactively sought ways to address any barriers to improving people’s experience and worked with local services. For example, patients whose circumstances may make them vulnerable (such as those with learning disability) had a dedicated member of staff for them to liaise with. Staff understood the importance of providing an inclusive approach to care and made adjustments to support equity in people’s experience and outcomes. The National GP Survey showed that 94% found the reception and administrative team at this practice to be helpful compared to the national average of 85%.

The practice collected feedback via the NHS Friends and Family (FFT) test which showed that that 90% of feedback was positive compared to the national average of 92% and the local average of 93%. The practice was aware of some of the negative comments and had reviewed this with the limited information received from FFT data.
