Assessing needs
The provider made sure people’s care and treatment was effective by assessing and reviewing their health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them.
People we spoke with expressed confidence that staff had a good understanding of their needs. Relatives told us they had been involved with key decisions and felt their input was valued. One relative said, “I am quite frequently involved in discussions and always invited to MDT meetings in relation to risk. Our views are always taken into account.”
Care plans documented people's abilities and support needs. Care plan reviews were completed regularly to ensure they were current, particularly when there were changes to a person’s condition or circumstances.

Consent to care and treatment
The provider told people about their rights around consent and respected these when delivering person-centred care and treatment.
Staff asked for consent before providing care to people and had knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and best interest decisions. Records showed clear documentation of ongoing consent, changes in capacity and the support provided to help people understand their choices around care.
The provider worked with external professionals such as GP’s and mental health teams to ensure decisions were informed and in line with best practice. Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) authorisations and conditions were followed.
