Our view of the service

Stanton Manor is a residential care home for adults of all ages and can accommodate up to 29 people who have dementia and/ or mental health conditions. The accommodation consists of a large house for 21 people and a smaller home in the grounds for up to 8 people. Our assessment began with an unannounced visit on 30 June and 3 July 2026, at which time 29 people were using the service. After the visit, the assessment was completed off-site, where we reviewed documentation and obtained additional feedback from visiting professionals and people’s relatives.

The service provided exceptionally caring support, with people consistently treated with kindness, compassion and respect. Staff demonstrated a thorough understanding of people's individual needs, preferences and aspirations, ensuring people remained at the centre of all decisions about their care. Strong, positive relationships had been developed, and staff promoted people's dignity, independence and wellbeing through a highly personalised approach. People were encouraged to express their views and make choices about their care, with staff showing a genuine commitment to ensuring they felt valued, listened to and respected.

Care was planned and delivered in a person-centred way. Support plans contained detailed information about people's needs, preferences and desired outcomes and were regularly reviewed to ensure they remained relevant and responsive. Staff worked closely with people and, where appropriate, their representatives when needs changed, ensuring support continued to reflect what was important to them.

People received safe care and support. Effective safeguarding arrangements were in place, and staff understood their responsibilities for protecting people from harm. People were supported in the least restrictive way and in accordance with legal requirements and best-interest principles. Medicines were managed safely, infection prevention and control measures were effective, and there were sufficient numbers of suitably skilled staff to meet people's needs.

Staff supported people to maintain their health and wellbeing and worked effectively with health and social care professionals to achieve positive outcomes. Staff received appropriate training, supervision and support to carry out their roles effectively and had a clear understanding of people's rights and how to uphold them in practice.

The provider was responsive to people's changing needs. Regular reviews of care ensured support remained effective and personalised, and staff worked collaboratively with people to make adjustments when required.

The service was well led. Effective governance and quality assurance systems were in place to monitor the quality and safety of care. Regular audits and oversight of activities identified areas for improvement, and action was taken promptly when required. Staff spoke positively about the registered manager, describing them as approachable, knowledgeable and supportive. An open and inclusive culture encouraged staff to raise concerns and share ideas, and the provider demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining good-quality care.
