The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and well-being.

People were supported to manage their daily routines in ways that suited them, promoting independence and personal choice. Support plans clearly reflected people’s individual preferences, routines and goals, and were used consistently to guide staff practice.

Staff knew people well and understood how they expressed choices, including non‑verbal communication. This ensured people were actively involved in decisions that affected their daily lives.

Relatives spoke positively about the support provided. One relative said, “[Loved one] decides and picks out things they want using PECS, for example with menu planning. Another relative said, “[Loved one]has routines that they’ve developed there, and I’m so glad that they’re finally becoming independent within that sort of set up.” This demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting people to have choice, control and growing independence.
