Well-led – this means we looked for evidence that service leadership, management and governance assured high-quality, person-centred care; supported learning and innovation; and promoted an open, fair culture.

At our last assessment we rated this key question Good. At this assessment the rating has remained Good. This meant the service was consistently managed and well-led. Leaders and the culture they created promoted high-quality, person-centred care.

The registered manager and the provider were committed to improving the service they provided. There was a system of checks in place to monitor the quality of the service to ensure continuous improvement.

Governance, management and sustainability

Score: 3

The provider had clear responsibilities, roles, systems of accountability and good governance. They used these to manage and deliver good quality, sustainable care, treatment and support. People were positive about the way the service was managed. One person told us, “[Registered manager] runs a tight ship. The care is good, and the rehabilitation support we get is excellent.” Staff described supervision and appraisal as regular and supportive, with staff praising the high level of support they received from the registered manager. One staff member told us, “The [registered manager] is a good role model. They give 100% to the role and do their best to make sure we give good care.”

The service was led by a motivated registered manager and staff team. They were committed to providing a reablement service that promoted person-centred values and a strong commitment to promoting independence. There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service. We saw that the registered manager and the provider completed regular audits which gave the management team a good oversight of risk and the quality of people’s care and support. This covered areas such as medicines, improvements to the service, people’s experiences and staff training and supervision.
