Window To The Womb - Bexleyheath is managed by Cocoro Group Limited and operates under a franchise agreement with Window to The Womb (Franchise) Limited. The service provides diagnostic obstetric ultrasound services to self-funding pregnant women from six weeks to full term across Bexleyheath, Dartford, Welling, Southeast London and surrounding areas. All scans carried out include wellbeing as the primary purpose; these include early scans from 6 to 8 weeks, reassurance scans, gender scans from 16 weeks, growth scans from 16 weeks and baby bonding scans from 27 weeks. The service also provides keepsake scans and uses two-dimensional (2D), three-dimensional (3D) and four-dimensional (4D) imaging. There were 7 members of staff employed by the service; this included a registered manager, area manager, clinic manager, sonographer and 4 scan assistants.

The clinic has a reception and waiting area, a scan room, a staff kitchen and a restroom.

The service provides diagnostic imaging for adults and young people over the age of 16. It is registered to provide the regulated activity of diagnostic and screening procedures.

We refer to women in this report, but we recognise that some transgender men, non-binary people and people with variations in sex characteristics (VSC) or who are intersex may also use services and experience some of the same issues.

This was a planned assessment of a diagnostic imaging service. This assessment was conducted because of the aged rating.

During our inspection, we visited the reception area, the scanning room, and other rooms used within the business. We spoke with 5 members of staff, including the CQC registered manager and area manager. We also observed 5 scanning appointments and reviewed the policies, procedures, staff and women's records.

The service remains rated as good overall. People received safe and effective care, with systems in place to manage risk and promote learning. There were enough staff to ensure people’s safety and needs were met through good organisation and delivery. Women were supported and treated with dignity and respect. The service was well-led, with a good culture of improvement and person-centred care. We found breaches of regulations during this assessment in relation to safe environment and risk assessments.
