Equity in experiences and outcomes

Score: 3

Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this.

People told us that staff communicated with them in a way they could understand. Their comments included, “The staff are very good at communicating with me. They’re helpful, patient and always make sure I’m comfortable with what’s happening” and “On the whole, yes [staff] listen, and they know how to help without taking over.” Although people’s care records did not always include detailed information about the support required with communication, staff were aware of people’s individual communication needs. In response, the management team took action to address this gap.

Policies and procedures were in place to ensure that both people and staff were treated fairly by the service.
