Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders
Staff were supported by capable and inclusive leaders. The registered manager managed Cabrini Houses 1, 2 and 3. These are 3 services on the same site. Each house had a separate staff team and a coordinator who oversaw the service and reported to the registered manager. The registered manager had managed the service for 5 years. They were knowledgeable about their responsibilities regarding the Health and Social Care Act 2014. They were aware of the types of significant events which they were required to notify CQC about and records showed the service had submitted notifications to CQC where needed. The registered manager told us they felt well supported by senior managers. They attended regular quarterly managers meetings where they learned about and shared good practice. Staff told us they were well supported by the registered manager and coordinator. There was a 24 hour on-call number where staff could contact managers if they need any advice or support. One staff member told us, “I have received all the support I need. The registered manager and coordinators are approachable and reliable. Teamwork within the service is good.” Another staff member said, “Any time I go to registered manager or coordinator they listen to what I have to say. They are always there to support and direct the staff team.”
A person using the service told us, “The registered manager is around all the time, she is good. I can talk to her about things if I need to.” A relative told us, “The service is well organised and well managed. The whole set up with the manager and coordinators is very good.” Another relative commented, “The leadership team offer stability. The registered manager and most staff have been there for a long time so there is a good continuity of care. I think the service is well managed.”
