Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this. People’s diverse needs and wishes were assessed, documented and respected. People had access to health care professionals when they needed them. They had tailored health action plans and hospital passports which outlined their health care and support needs for professionals.

The provider had an equality and diversity policy and procedure in place and staff told us they had received training to understand this. The registered manager told us people celebrated various days such as Diwali, Epilepsy Day, World Down Syndrome Day, Learning disabilities Pride, Chinese New Year, Deaf awareness week, Greek Orthodox Easter along with Christian celebrations. A relative told us their loved one was supported by staff to attend a local church every week.
