During an assessment under our new approach

Diagnostic imaging at the Cleveland Clinic Moorgate Outpatient Centre is operated by Cleveland Clinic London Hospital and is 1 of 3 clinics and hospitals in London that offer imaging services. The diagnostic imaging service includes X-ray, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), cardiac echocardiogram, ultrasound, and a fluoroscopic X-ray system. The department is co-located with outpatient and GP services and the team provides rapid access to new referral.

We have not previously assessed or rated this service. We carried out an unannounced onsite assessment on 14 October 2024. The service operates between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday for pre-booked appointments. This assessment rated the diagnostic service as good.

The provider’s 3 London locations offer diagnostic imaging and work closely together, including with an overarching integrated governance system. In some cases, evidence and data are monitored at service level and not at location level and so our findings are repeated in more than 1 report. At this location, some areas of governance and performance monitoring are carried out jointly between outpatients and diagnostic imaging. Where information applies to both services, we have included it in both reports.

Outpatients at the Cleveland Clinic Moorgate Outpatient Centre provides consultations and minor operations from a dedicated clinic shared with diagnostic imaging and the provider’s in-house GP service. Consultants lead clinical care with support from nurses and healthcare assistants. Facilities include 6 treatment rooms, 2 procedure rooms for minor operations and wound dressings, and a phlebotomy room. The department offers point of care testing with a laboratory located at the provider’s main hospital. Minor surgery includes urodynamics, colposcopy, hysteroscopy, and hormone injections.

A wide range of clinical specialties in the main hospital use the outpatient department, such as urology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, and neurology. Appointments are made by self-referral, referral from another doctor or organisation, or based on wider care pathways where the patient has had surgery in the hospital. The provider’s 3 London locations work closely together, including with an overarching integrated governance system. In some cases, evidence and data are monitored at service level and not at location level and so our findings are repeated in more than 1 report.

At this location, some areas of governance and performance monitoring are carried out jointly between outpatients, diagnostic imaging, and the GP service. Where information applies to multiple services, we have included it in all relevant reports. We carried out an unannounced onsite inspection on 9 October 2024. We have not previously inspected the service.
