During an assessment of Emergency and urgent care

We assessed Met Medical from 15 to 16 July 2025
We carried out a comprehensive assessment of the service as it had never been assessed at their current location and we had received some concerns about the safety and quality of the service and the regulated activities being provided.
We rated this service as good, the service kept people safe and protected them from harm. People’s treatment outcomes were good and person-centered, meaning that people were respected, treated with dignity and as individuals.

During an assessment of Patient transport services

We assessed Met Medical Limited from 15 to 16 July 2025. We carried out a comprehensive assessment of the service as it had never been assessed at the current location and we had received some information of concern about the service. We rated this service as good, the service kept people safe and protected them from harm. People’s treatment outcomes were consistently good and person-centered, meaning that people were respected, treated with dignity and as individuals.

During an assessment of the hospital overall

Met Medical Limited is an independent ambulance service based in St. Albans
We assessed Met Medical Limited from the 15 to 16 July 2025.
We carried out a comprehensive assessment as this service had not been assessed at their current location. We had also received some information of concern about the safety and the quality of the service and regulated activities being provided.
Met Medical Limited registered with CQC at their current location in February 2023 to deliver the regulated activities of: Transport services, triage of medical advice provided remotely and treatment of disease disorder or injury. The service has a Registered Manager and a Nominated Individual. Met Medical also provides medical cover at events such as music festivals but CQC does not have the power to regulate this part of the service.
On this inspection we assessed 2 assessment service groups: Emergency and Urgent Care and Patient Transport Services, where we assessed all quality statements in all key questions.
We visited the ambulance base as part of this assessment and observed the care being given on the ambulances.
The service provides 999 emergency support to an NHS ambulance service trust; this is their biggest contract and provides most of their work.
They provide patient transport services (PTS) work for the Integrated Care Board (I.C.B), on an ad hoc basis.
They provide private PTS via direct referrals from the public, some of these transfers can be long distance.
