Responsive
This means we looked for evidence that the service met people’s needs.
Our rating of responsive stayed the same. We rated it as good because:
The service was committed to supporting patients' recovery and rehabilitation and worked effectively with partner organisations to help people progress towards discharge and greater independence. Patients had access to a range of therapeutic interventions, education, vocational opportunities and activities that supported their recovery goals and enabled them to engage with their local community.
Feedback from patients was generally positive. Patients told us staff were caring, supportive and helped them work towards greater independence. Some patients identified areas where they felt the service could improve, including greater choice of food, increased access to meaningful activities and clearer communication about aspects of their care and treatment. Some patients also raised concerns about the impact of night-time observations on their sleep.
Leaders were aware of this feedback and had established processes to gather, review and respond to patients' views through community meetings, surveys and individual discussions.
We saw evidence that the service listened to feedback and considered opportunities for improvement. These concerns did not detract from the overall positive experiences described by most patients or the service's commitment to person-centred care and recovery-focused practice.
