This service scored 75 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Assessing needs
The provider made sure people’s care and treatment was effective by assessing and reviewing their health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them. The service continued to be a family home, and the provider confirmed that no new people would ever be admitted. This also meant there continued to be no pre-assessments of people's needs in place. The provider was carefully considering succession planning and the next stages for the service as the family were all getting older. They recognised people’s needs would change and the challenges the existing property presented. The provider had already installed a lift to support people’s changing mobility needs. The provider engaged with external professionals to meet people's existing conditions and changing needs, this included supporting them to attend healthcare appointments to maintain their wellbeing.

Consent to care and treatment
The provider told people about their rights around consent and respected these when delivering person-centred care and treatment.
Staff knew people well and how they communicated their wishes. We observed staff consistently ask for people’s consent before they supported them. A member of staff told us, “[People’s] bedrooms are owed their own personal spaces. No one else goes in unless the individual invites the person in any issues. Any issues that need discussing are done privately in person.”
