Effective
We rated effective as requires improvement. We assessed 1 quality statement. On the day of assessment patients' needs were assessed appropriately and staff provided examples of how they worked well together.
However, audit data provided demonstrated that the service did not always maximise the effectiveness of people’s care and treatment.

Assessing needs
The service did not always maximise the effectiveness of people’s care and treatment by assessing and reviewing their health and care needs with them. Audits we requested demonstrated that compliance with NEWS shows that improvement is needed at the service. The trust were aware of this concern and following the audit had put actions in place to improve performance.
During the assessment, we observed patients needs were assessed consistently across the assessment. Patients with had regular assessments of their NEWS scores. We also observed patients needs assessed in relation to cardiac and sepsis care, alongside effective management of pain in children.
The service had positive audit data in relation to sepsis management which corresponded with what we found on the day of assessment.
