Well-led

Good

Updated 4 September 2026

Our overall rating of well led at Queen’s Hospital Burton has remained good.

Leaders were visible and well regarded by staff and demonstrated the skills, knowledge and experience needed to lead the service. They were able to describe how they were working to deliver high-quality, person-centred care and promoted a culture where staff felt respected, valued and listened to. Staff were encouraged to develop creative approaches to improve equality of experience, outcomes and quality of life for patients. The service had management and governance structures in place, and there were examples of effective oversight and support for staff.

However, the service did not always have clear responsibilities, roles, systems of accountability or sufficiently robust governance arrangements. Leaders did not always act on the best available information about risk, and opportunities to identify, monitor and improve performance were sometimes limited.
