Effective
Our overall rating of effective at Queen’s Hospital Burton has changed from good to requires improvement.
While care and treatment were generally planned and delivered in line with legislation and recognised standards, the service could not always demonstrate consistently effective care across all areas. Effective joint working between the emergency department, some specialties and external agencies was not always achieved, which affected the coordination and continuity of care for some patients.
However, staff planned and delivered care and treatment in partnership with patients and supported people to live healthier lives. Consent was sought and obtained in line with legal requirements, and care generally met evidence-based standards. Patients reported positive outcomes and feedback about the care they received was largely favourable.
