Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 1 May to 13 May 2025. The Vale Care Home is a care home providing regulated activity to adults, people living with dementia and people who have physical disabilities. The service can support up to 40 people, at the time of our assessment 29 people were using the service. This assessment was carried out following information of concern we had received about the quality of the care in the service. We found improvements had been made following our last inspection. Staff provided safe care to meet people’s needs, people’s care plans were regularly reviewed and updated when required. However, the provider had not always made sure that medicines were safely managed. The registered manager took immediate action to address these findings. There were enough staff available to meet people’s needs. The provider worked well with external professionals to support people and relatives told us they were kept up to date with any changes in their family members’ care. The provider told people about their rights around consent and respected these when delivering person-centered care and treatment. We observed staff treat people with kindness and care throughout our assessment and staff demonstrated a good understanding of people’s individual needs. The provider and manager both had a good oversight of the service through the audits they carried out and fostered a positive culture where people, staff and relatives could speak up and their voices would be heard.
People's experience of this service
People and their relatives were happy with the care provided at The Vale. They told us the service was safe and spoke positively about the staff, and how the service was managed. Relatives told us how staff supported people with their health conditions and how they were kept up to date with any changes in their family members’ needs. People told us staff treated them well by being kind and available when they needed support. Relatives also confirmed this and described the staff team as ‘one big family.’ People and their relatives knew who the registered manager was and felt confident they would listen and act if they had any concerns.
