Caring
Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the service treated people compassionately. This is the first inspection since the service was registered. We rated this key question as Good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Kindness, compassion and dignity
People and their family members told us they were treated with kindness and compassion and their views were respected. One family member told us “The staff that have worked with [Name] family member have all been wonderful” We observed staff supporting people with kindness and respect.
Treating people as individuals
Staff told us they treated people as individuals. Staff were able to give examples of how they treated people with dignity and respect such as closing curtains, ensuring privacy. Staff communicated with people in a way that was respectful.
Independence, choice and control
People were treated as individuals. We reviewed care plans for people with complex needs. Care plans were very detailed, and person centred. The care records contained specific likes and dislikes, preferences, and choices. Staff told us about the people they supported and clearly knew them very well.
People were encouraged and supported to maintain their independence as much as possible. A staff member told us, “It is important that people have goals and aspirations.” A family member told us their plans for their loved one’s future, to live independently with support.
Responding to people’s immediate needs
People and their family members told us the staff were extremely good at responding to people’s changing needs. A staff member told us, “I enjoy that every day is different, it is interesting working with different people with unique needs.” A professional who supported people who used the service told us, “I have found the service to be helpful and intuitive when supporting my service user. They are very responsive in different situations, they manage well.”
Workforce wellbeing and enablement
The management team worked cohesively to achieve good quality care for the people they supported. Likewise, the staff team were well supported. Staff told us they felt valued and listened to. Staff were happy with the training with excellent training. “I feel genuinely cared for and supported, and I am grateful for the wonderful team I work with.”
