Date of assessment 04 June to 05 June 2025. Mill House is a care home providing personal and nursing care for up to 45 people aged 65 and over. At the time of the assessment there were 32 people living at Mill House across 2 floors, each of which had separate adapted facilities. We carried out this assessment due to the age of the current rating. We looked at all quality statements. Accidents and incidents were analysed and trends identified to mitigate future risks. The service was clean, and people were protected from the risk and spread of infection. Medicines were mostly managed safely although there were some areas for improvement which were discussed with the provider. Staff were knowledgeable about safeguarding and knew how to recognise and report abuse. People were involved in their day-to-day support and care plans detailed people’s preferences. People had access to healthcare professionals and staff ensured their advice was followed. Staff and leaders were keen to ensure people received person centred care and support. Some management systems required embedding into practice to ensure they were effective in identifying and rectifying issues in a timely way. At the time of our assessment there was no Registered Manager, and there had not been one for 4 months. There had been several senior managers overseeing the service while the provider was recruiting for a new manager. There was a stable Deputy Manager. A Regional Support Manager had planned to apply to become the Registered Manager at the time of our assessment.
