During an assessment under our new approach
Bourley Grange is a care home with nursing that provides personal care to older people, younger adults and people living with a dementia. It accommodates up to 60 people across 4 units over 2 floors in one purpose-built building. There were 55 people using the service when we visited.
Date of Assessment: 6 November and 13 November 2025. We found that people were protected and kept safe by a team of caring and skilled staff who knew them well. The assessment took place as we received concerns regarding how the service supported people at risk of falls and skin breakdown. We found there had been improvements to the service and staff had conducted further training to support people. The management team had implemented further governance checks to reduce the risk of falls and pressure ulcers to people. The service had recently implemented further daily checks completed by senior care staff and management, including daily monitoring of medicines, falls and pressure ulcers, providing robust oversight.
The service provided a warm and welcoming environment, with an open-door policy in place allowing staff, people and relatives to raise concerns with ease. Staff were kind and compassionate and knew people well. Risk assessments were in place and were regularly reviewed and updated as needed.
People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.
People’s communication needs were assessed, and staff were aware if a person required further support with their communication. Staff worked well with people, families and health and social care agencies to support people’s wellbeing.
