During a routine inspection
Patients were provided with a report on their scan, and were also given a copy on a memory stick if they wanted this. Where patients requested it, copies of their report were sent to their GP or other medical professional.
Most scans were carried out in patients' homes using a mobile scanner. As a result of this, we did not have the opportunity to meet any patients. We did see that the service sought feedback from its patients, and the results of the satisfaction surveys we reviewed were positive.
We saw that the service had appropriate equipment that was newly purchased and under guarantee.
The sonographer was a member of a professional organisation and received regular practice updates and information. They had undergone recent training, to continue and refresh their professional development.
