Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. One patient told us, “Happy with the dental care I have received over the years.” We were also told, “Only dentist I use in Birmingham, from the receptionist to doctors always provide the best service.”

Patient comments included that staff were welcoming and attentive, acted with integrity, and showed compassion.

Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate.

Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected.

We were provided with a patient survey. This provided a positive view of the service with 22 of the 25 respondents rating their overall experience as excellent. The results of the 2024 patient survey were on display in the waiting room. We saw that where suggestions had been made by patients such as adding a television on the ceiling in the hygienist room, this had been implemented.

People received care from staff who were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights, and of the importance of privacy and confidentiality. We observed positive interactions between staff and patients both in person and on the telephone. The receptionist was heard offering various appointment times to accommodate patient wishes. Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion. Staff displayed an understanding of patients’ needs and were attentive and kind when dealing with patients.

Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles, and their wellbeing was supported.
