The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.

People were supported to be as independent as possible by staff. This included eating and drinking, mobilising and completing aspects of their personal care. People were supported to maintain relationships with friends and family who could visit the home throughout the day.One person said, “I am treated very well by staff. They are kind and considerate. I can move about independently and the staff encourage me.”

People were supported to maintain relationships with friends and family who could visit the home throughout the day.

Some of the feedback we received was that there weren’t always enough activities, or trips out taking place at the home. A member of staff said, “We don’t have a designated activities coordinator, so it’s down to staff but we don’t always have time. There aren’t many trips out. I think people would like it and would benefit from it.” A person living at the home said, “From time to time there are some activities, but not consistently.” Another person said, “If I had one problem its going out. I love to shop and I could do that with help. I understand that the staff are busy but I would like more to do.”

We saw from looking at residents meetings that activities were discussed and some trips out had taken place. A satisfaction survey had also been sent to people, although feedback about activities was not one of the questions asked. We shared this feedback with the registered manager.
