Caring
Staff treated service users with compassion and kindness. They understood the individual needs of service users and supported them to understand and manage their care and treatment. Staff involved service users in care planning and risk assessment and actively sought their feedback on the quality of care provided. However, service users were not routinely offered a copy of their care plan.

Independence, choice and control
People we spoke with were complimentary about the services and staff. One service user we spoke with told us they visited the service every morning as they could sit in the warmth and get a hot drink. They told us that even though they were experiencing complex issues with their substance use the staff were doing all they could to support them and had helped them to find accommodation. Service users felt they were supported to have choice and control over their own care and support.
Staff told us family members received support through regular carers groups, including an 8-week parent and carer group for those living with young people under the age of 21 struggling with a substance misuse issue.
Staff supported service users to engage in developing support networks both at the service and within the local community, this included workshops and groups run by CGL staff and staff directed service users to other services and supported them to access those services if they needed help.
Families and carers could give feedback on the service they received via surveys or community meetings, feedback reviewed was positive. Care plans included details of people’s day-to-day needs and preferences, wants and wishes, information included details about people’s hobbies, interests and important relationships.
Service users had the opportunity to feedback at monthly have your say groups.
