Our view of the service

CGL Spectrum is part of the national provider Change Grow Live, who provides a not-for-profit drug and alcohol treatment service.

CGL Spectrum operates a hub and spoke model. There were four main hubs at the time of inspection which were in Hatfield, Watford, Hertford and Stevenage, as well as 10 satellite hubs across Hertfordshire.

Opening times at all four hubs varied to ensure service users were able to access the service in the evening and weekend. Each hub had specialist teams and recovery workers, including an Opiate Team, Alcohol Team, Complex needs Team, an Engagement Rapid Recovery team and a specialist housing team. Co-located teams included Family Safeguarding, Hospital Liaison, Integrated Criminal Justice and Family and a Young Peoples service.

CGL Spectrum is registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide treatment of disease disorder or injury and diagnostic and screening procedures as a regulated activity. At the time of inspection, the service had a registered manager in post.

People's experience of this service

We spoke with 7 service users and reviewed recent feedback from service users and carers. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Carer feedback included compliments about the service and the support given to them if required. Service users and carers said staff treated them with respect and went above and beyond to support them. Service users told us they felt involved in their care and treatment and that they felt listened to.

During the assessment, we saw several examples of staff showing themselves to be open, caring and non-judgmental.
