Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 6 July 2026. Watling Medical Centre is a GP practice and delivers services to approximately 6,700 patients under a contract held with NHS England. According to the latest available data, the ethnic make-up of the service area is approximately 96% White, 1.7% Asian, 1.4% Mixed, 0.4% Black and 0.5% Other. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 7th decile (7 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report.

We carried out this assessment to follow up on breaches of regulation at the last assessment. We assessed quality statements for the key questions of safe, effective, responsive, and well-led.Since the last assessment, the practice had made improvements and is no longer in breach of regulations.

People's experience of this service

People were positive about the quality of their care and treatment. Recent survey results, including from the National GP Patient Survey and the NHS Friends and Family Test, showed people were satisfied with services. At the time of the assessment, the practice did not have an active Patient Participation Group (PPG). However, the provider was able to demonstrate innovative examples of how they had engaged with the patient population to gather and act on feedback to help inform service improvement.
