This service scored 75 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.

Kindness, compassion and dignity

Score: 3

The service always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.

The service had arrangements to promote people’s privacy. For example, the waiting area was separated from the reception by a wall with an upper glass panel to reduce overhearing conversations. A room was available for private conversations if needed. Breastfeeding facilities were available for nursing mothers, and there was a baby weighing scale inside the breastfeeding room for mothers to check their baby’s weight. Chaperones were offered to people at consultations and chaperone posters were displayed in consulting rooms.

The service performed better than the national average in the results of the 2025 National GP Patient Survey. This showed people felt listened to and felt they were treated with kindness. For example, 93% of respondents to the survey felt the healthcare professional at their last appointment was good at treating them with care and concern, compared to a national average of 86%. In addition, 93% of respondents felt the healthcare professional was good at listening to them, compared to a national average of 87%. This was mirrored in feedback from people we received during our assessment who described staff as “helpful”, “empathic”, “caring” and “friendly”. People were also grateful for the bereavement support that the service provided.
