Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 02 June 2026 to 17 June 2026.

Churchview Care Services (Taunton) is a domiciliary care and supported living service providing personal care to people with learning disabilities and autistic people living in their own homes. Not everyone who used the service received personal care. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) only inspects where people receive personal care. This assessment reviewed the domiciliary service only. At the time of the assessment, the domiciliary service supported 2 people with the regulated activity personal care.

At our last inspection the service was rated good, at this assessment the service remained good.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

People told us they felt safe and supported by staff, describing them as kind, caring and respectful. Care was delivered in line with individual preferences, with emphasis on promoting independence, dignity and choice. Staff understood safeguarding processes, risks were assessed and mitigated, and there were effective systems in place to learn from incidents. This contributed to improved outcomes for people.

The service had sufficient numbers of suitably trained staff to meet people’s needs. Staff received a wide range of training and ongoing support, including regular supervision and team meetings. Staff spoke positively about their roles and the support they received from management. Safe recruitment processes were in place, and people were matched with staff who knew them well. This supported continuity and consistency of care.

Care and support were effective and coordinated, with staff working alongside health and social care professionals to meet people’s needs. People were supported to maintain their health and wellbeing, attend appointments and make informed decisions about their care. Communication systems were effective, and care plans reflected people’s preferences.

The service demonstrated a positive culture with approachable and supportive leadership. Governance systems, audits and action plans were in place to monitor quality and drive improvement. Staff felt able to speak up and contribute to service development. There was a clear focus on learning, inclusion and continuous improvement.

People's experience of this service

People told us they were happy with the support they received and felt safe being supported by staff. Feedback from people and relatives indicated people experienced consistent, personalised care delivered by staff who knew them well and responded to their needs in a kind and respectful way. People described feeling safe and supported by staff. One person told us, “I am happy, they [staff] check I’m okay.” The person described staff as, “Helpful, kind and caring.”

People were supported to maintain independence and make choices about their daily lives. People told us they were supported to access the community and maintain social connections. One person told us, “They [staff] help me to go out”, describing opportunities to access their local community.

People felt able to raise concerns and were confident staff would listen. One person told us, “If I wasn’t happy, I would talk to [name of staff], they would listen.” This demonstrated people knew how to share feedback and felt listened to.
