At our last assessment we rated this key question Good. At this assessment the rating has remained Good.

This meant people’s needs were met through good organisation and delivery.

Person-centred Care

Score: 3

The provider made sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment choices and they decided, in partnership with people, how to respond to any relevant changes in people’s needs. Regular reviews were being completed and people and their relatives told us they were involved in reviews of their care plans.

External healthcare professionals told us that the provider worked with them to ensure people’s needs were met. The provider worked alongside other care providers to support some of the people at the service. Comments included, “We work with one complex person and the agency does appear to go above and beyond to ensure that the carers are suitable for that particular care package.”

Staff ensured that they completed a record of the care they provided during each visit.

Listening to and involving people

Score: 3

The provider made it easy for people to share feedback and ideas, or raise complaints about their care, treatment and support. Staff involved people in decisions about their care and told them what had changed as a result.

Feedback was sought from people and their relatives. People, their relatives and external healthcare professionals told us they were able to raise concerns and discuss any issues easily with the registered manager. The registered manager made sure people had the opportunity to share their views about their care through regular reviews, surveys and everyday contact.

Equity in access

The provider made sure that people could access the care, support and treatment they needed when they needed it. The registered manager explained they worked with various external healthcare providers to support people including GP’s, district nurses, social workers etc. This ensured people were supported to receive the appropriate care to meet their needs. Staff undertook a range of training courses to help ensure they are able to provide appropriate and safe care for people.

Equity in experiences and outcomes

Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this. The provider engaged with a range of different external health professionals to ensure people using the service had access to the services they need.

Staff had completed training in equality and diversity and staff understood people had a right to be treated fairly and equally.
