Assessing needs

The provider made sure people’s care and treatment was effective by assessing and reviewing their health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them. Assessments were completed prior to support starting.

People and their relatives told us that they were included in their reviews and risk management. One relative told us that they regularly spoke with the registered manager about any changes to their relative’s needs.

Assessments were up-to-date and regularly reviewed to support staff to understand people’s current needs.

The provider told people about their rights around consent and respected these when delivering person-centred care and treatment. We reviewed care plans and daily care notes and saw consistent evidence of consent being sought. Feedback from relatives supported that staff engage during visits and are kind and caring.

Staff and managers worked within the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005(MCA). Staff had received training in the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) and DoLS.
