Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the provider involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.

At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good.

This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Kindness, compassion and dignity

The provider always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.

Staff demonstrated empathy when speaking about people and in a positive way. Comments included, “One of the people we look after tells me they feel happy and comforted and also praises the care from You Before Me Care. They often mention how professional and kind everyone is.”

People and their relatives told us staff were kind, courteous and caring and they had been able to build positive relationships with the staff.

Independence, choice and control

The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.

Care plans identified people’s preferences and choices and how people preferred to have their care needs carried out. People’s care plans identified which aspects of their care they were able to complete themselves and where they required support from staff.
