Our current view of the service

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 24 April 2025.
We found the practice had met regulations.
Infection control procedures in place were mostly effective, however oversight of Legionella processes needed improvement.
The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance.
Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our inspection, could access care, support and treatment when required.
The practice is in Handforth, Cheshire and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available outside the practice.
The practice had 3 treatment rooms. The total number of staff was 16. During the inspection we spoke with 3 dentists, 1 dental nurse, the decontamination lead and the practice manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection.

Prior to our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 36 patients. On the day of our inspection, we saw patient feedback from a further 52 patients, who had left online reviews. We also saw 63 patient feedback responses, which the practice had collected themselves in March 2025.
Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.
Comments included:
“The surgery is always beautifully clean and well maintained and the staff are exceptionally helpful and considerate. A wonderful first experience for my daughter. A wonderful experience overall.”
“The dentist is very professional and lovely, makes you very at ease, [they] has been great with my children over the years too and they've never had a worry about going to the dentist, which is down to [them]. The practice is clean, professional and has brilliant customer service.”
“Lovely friendly and professional surgery. I have been attending this practice for many, many years. The reception staff and dental surgeons are all very professional. The surgeons are welcoming and always put you at ease explaining every step of your treatment. Superb practice and would highly recommend the practice to others.”
“All staff including reception staff are always professional, friendly and helpful. Will try and get an appointment for you as soon as possible if you have an emergency - I feel they always go above and beyond. All of my family attend this surgery and see different dentists but each one puts you at your ease, fully explains any treatment you need, gives excellent preventative advice and does their best to make any procedure you need as comfortable as possible. As a family we feel very fortunate to be registered at this dental practice.”
Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed. Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care.
Patients told us that when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given. Patients told us that they were supported to maintain their oral health and were provided with appropriate information and resources. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
