Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 15 October 2025

An assessment has been undertaken of a specialist service that is used by autistic people or people with a learning disability. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

The assessment was completed between 28 October and 13 November 2025 with onsite activity on the 28 and 30 October. Gallimore Lodge is a care home registered to accommodate up to 8 people who have a learning disability who require personal care. There were 8 people living at the service at the time of the assessment. The accommodation for people was on the ground floor with access to a garden and had easy access to the local community.

The registered manager had systems in place to monitor and assess people’s safety, staff felt assured if they had concerns that the registered manager would listen and ensure people’s safety. People who used the service, staff and relatives were happy with the support the registered manager provided to them.

Staff knew the people they cared for, they had a good understanding of safeguarding, and the provider had ensured staff had an awareness of how to protect people and what to do if they felt someone was at risk. People received support to take their medicines safely by staff who had the relevant skills. There was enough staff to meet people’s needs. Staff received the support they need to deliver safe care. This included induction, training, supervision, competency assessments, and support to develop. One member of staff told us “They give me so much support and teach me a lot.”

People's experience of the service

Updated 15 October 2025

People could not directly tell us about their experience. However, it was clear from our observation and feedback from relatives and professionals, that people were comfortable and relaxed with staff and they felt safe within their environment. Staff had positive and caring relationships with people and relatives said they found staff to be kind. One relative told us “I’m really happy with [relatives name] placement, they do get cared for and the staff know them.”
