Our view of the service
E-ZEC Medical Transport Services, operating under the trading name EMED Group Limited, was the provider for E-Zec Medical Norfolk. Great Yarmouth location provided patient transport services across Great Yarmouth, Norfolk and Waveney and Suffolk through commissioning a contractwith the local Integrated Care Board. Ambulance care assistants conducted most patient transport journeys and were trained in basic life support. The high dependency crews consist of a paramedic and ambulance care assistant, and they were contracted to undertake interfacility transfers for cardiac patients. We carried out this unannounced assessment on the 28th of August 2024 because we received information giving us concerns about the safety and quality of the service. At the time of our assessment the Great Yarmouth site was still operational but was being decommissioned due to their contracts finishing. The service was rated Good following our assessment.
People's experience of this service
During our assessment we gathered people’s feedback through provider surveys, complaints and complimentsreceived by the provider. People overall felt staff delivered a good service and were kind and compassionate whilst receiving care. Many complaints related to transport arriving late, poor communication and escorts not being permitted to travel.
