Providing Information
The provider supplied appropriate, accurate and up-to-date information in formats that were tailored to individual needs. Since 2016 onwards all organisations that provide publicly funded adult social care are legally required to follow the Accessible Information Standard (AIS). The standard was introduced to make sure people are given information in a way they can understand. The standard applies to all people with a disability, impairment or sensory loss and in some circumstances to their careers. People were enabled, by the processes to know how to access their health and care records and decide which personal information could be shared with other people. This included their family, care staff and healthcare professionals. People received information in a timely way that met best practice standards, legal requirements and was tailored to individual needs. People were provided with clear, and transparent information that followed consumer rights best practice, including contracts and charges. Information about people that was collected and shared met data protection legislation requirements. One relative told us, “We are always kept up to date.”

Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this. There were systems and processes that protected people regarding their care, treatment, and support. This was by promoting equality, removing barriers, protecting their rights, and making them feel their experiences of discrimination, and inequality were listened to and acted upon to improve their and other people’s care. This meant they experienced equity in experience, and access.
