All Inspections

During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 29 June 2026.

We found the practice had not met all regulations.

The practice had systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control. However, these were not consistently effective, and not all risks had been suitably identified, assessed and mitigated.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation but were not always being followed.

Staff training was not up-to-date or reviewed at regular intervals.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

The practice is in Charlbury and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 4 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 9 staff, of which there were 3 dentists, 3 dental nurses, 1 dental hygiene therapist, 1 receptionist and the practice manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses, the dental hygiene therapist and the practice manager.

The provider was not complying with Regulation 17 Good governance.

Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the inspection report.

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to three patients who received treatment on the day of our visit. All the patients we spoke to were very satisfied with the quality of care received. One person said they received 'first class attention'. We found the staff very professional and helpful and this was confirmed when we spoke to patients.

The three patient's commented on how friendly and caring the practice staff were. One new patient on the day of our visit said her initial impression of the practice was very good. One patient commented that the service was 'very good value for money'.

All three patients commented on the cleanliness of the practice. We found the practice very clean and tidy this was confirmed through observing patient feedback survey. All three people we spoke to would recommend the practice to their family or friends.

We found that all three patients were given appropriate information and choices about their treatment options and the associated costs. The prevention of dental problems was always emphasised by the dentists and other staff. One patient commented that the dental health advice was 'very good'. This was confirmed when reviewing clinical records. All three patients commented how easy it was to make an appointment. They said they only had to wait a short while for an appointment even when they had problems.
