We carried out an announced inspection at Fullwell Avenue Surgery on 9 May 2018. The inspection was conducted as the practice recently had registered a change in the provider of service from this location.

At this inspection we found:

  • The practice had clear systems to manage risk so that safety incidents were less likely to happen. When incidents did happen, the practice learned from them and improved their processes.
  • The practice had good facilities and was well equipped to treat patients and meet their needs.
  • The practice routinely reviewed the effectiveness and appropriateness of the care it provided. It ensured that care and treatment was delivered according to evidence- based guidelines.
  • Staff involved and treated patients with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.
  • The practice ensured patients had good access to care by offering early morning appointments as well as telephone consultations. Patients were able to book appointments online.
  • Patient feedback cards indicated that they were happy with the standard of care provided at the surgery.

The areas where the provider should make improvements are:

  • Establish a system of documented regular in-house infection control audits.
  • To review the practice Health and Safety policy.
  • Review arrangements regarding promoting the practice services online.
